General Information

We have two mailing lists:

The links above point you to the list information page. Many tasks can be accomplished from there. See below for more information:

Subscribing to a List

Please do not try to subscribe yourself to these lists. When you join the collaboration, you will be subscribed to both lists. To join the collaboration, go here and fill out that form. If you are interested in receiving announcements but not joining the collaboration, please send email to <jsberg@bnl.gov>.

Posting a Message to a Mailing List

The email address for the mailing list is given on the list information page, under the heading "Using NuMu-Listname-l." Note that if you are not subscribed to the mailing list, you will not be able to post to the list.

Actually, that's not completely true. If you are not subscribed to the list, when you attempt to send mail to the list, a message will be sent back to the list saying that your posting is being held for administrative approval. The list administrator then checks the phase of the moon and decides based on that whether to allow your post to be sent to the list. Note that this will also occur if you are subscribed to the list, but send an email with a "From" address that is different from the one with which you are subscribed to the list. The list administrator would really appreciate it if you talked to your system administrators and remedied this particular problem (most all mail delivery software can be configured to make mail appear to be coming from a particular address). The purpose of all this is to prevent all of your mailboxes from being bombarded by ads for investment scams, pyramid schemes, and pornography.

Viewing Past Messages

Under "About NuMu-Listname-l," there is a link to the archives for the mailing list. You can only access the archives if you are on the mailing list. You will need to supply your email address and password to satisfy that requirement. If you have forgotten your password, see below.

Viewing a List of the Subscribers

At the bottom, under "NuMu-Listname-l Subscribers", you can obtain a list of subscribers to the mailing list by entering the address under which you are subscribed and your password, then hitting the "View Subscriber List" button. If you have forgotten your password, see below.

You've Forgotten Your Password

You didn't save that first message you received after you were subscribed to the list. Out of sheer stubbornness, you even deleted those monthly reminders of your password. That's OK. To get your pasword emailed to you, go to the bottom of the list information page, enter your email address next to the "Edit Options" button, and then hit the "Edit Options" button. A new page will come up, and on that page under "Forgotten Your Password?", there is a button that says "Email My Password To Me." Hit the button.

Unsubscribing From the Mailing List

You've finally come to realize that the VLHC is the only viable way to get to high energies. You've tired of the propaganda coming from the Muon Collider and Neutrino Factory Collaboration. It's easy to get off of our mailing lists. Go to the bottom of the list information page, enter your email address next to the "Edit Options" button, and then hit the "Edit Options" button. A new page will come up, and right at the top there is a section labelled "Unsubscribing from NuMu-Listname-l." Enter your password and hit the unsubscribe button. If you are a collaboration member, note that we require all collaboration members to be subscribed to the collaboration and announcement mail lists; thus, we will assume that unsubscribing from the collaboration mailing list means that you no longer wish to be a member of the collaboration. If you wish to remain on the announcements list, please send an email to <jsberg@bnl.gov>.
